Deloraine Jazz Clubs aim is to facilitate the social enjoyment of live jazz in Deloraine. Members' preferences are for Trad, Dixieland, Mainstream and swing. For the Octoberevent [4/10] the Club brought together 3 great musicians who had never played together before, to create the spontaneous inventive jazz that this situation engenders.With Alan James on piano, Ken Philpott on bass and Chris Barclay on trumpet the end result was 3 hours of terrific trad and mainstream jazz that brought enthusiastic responses from the crowd. The surprise of the day came from Barclays 15 year old daughter whose love of jazz standards and great voice just blitzed the crowd. The use of the Deloraine Club continues to bring favourable comments about the comfort, central heating,welcoming atmosphere and accoustics that suit jazz very well.
The bar service and availbilty of tea & coffee catered to all tastes so all seems in place for a happy continuing use of this great venue.
