What the Mole Creek Caving Club stands for
MCCC's Aims and objectives: To encourage safe and responsible caving. To develop and maintain expertise in cave search and rescue, and perform a search and rescue function when needed. To work for conservation and sensitive management of caves and karst. To foster good relations with landowners and/or land management authorities. To compile accurate and consistent documented inventory of karst features and caves. To foster social exchange among clubs and maintain contacts with other scientific and sporting groups of similar interest.
What the club does
Activities of the club include horizontal and vertical caving at all levels of difficulty with attention to caver safety and minimal impact to caves. We undertake karst reconnaissance, cave discovery, cave exploration, surveying, mapping and documentation. We perform caver training at all levels - introductory to advanced, speleosports, cave search and rescue exercises. We also undertake conservation activities and environmental advocacy, photography, social events, and scientific karst and ecology research - independently and by collaboration. We have a tradition of chocolate consumption associated with all activities. MCCC has published 4 volumes of its journal, Illuminations, which are for public sale. We have our own website (now on our own domain - mole.org.au) which gives more comprehensive details about the club. A recent development has been an outreach program to offer school presentations and activities based on caving safety and ethics education.
