The aim of the Guild is to encourage and stimulate embroidery as an art, by instruction through workshops, courses and regular monthly meetings of people sharing a common interest in embroidery.
We have a current financial membership of 29. Our annual subscription is $30.00.
In 2002 we became incorporated with the Embroiderers' Guild of Tasmania affording us the security required to operate as a community group in a public place.
In February 2002 we held our first exhibition at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery which met with such a success we have been given the opportunity to exhibit again in March 2004 AND 2006.
Since our group began 16 years ago we have had a number of workshops on various styles of embroidery taken by skilled coastal tutors. We have also been able to share professional mainland tutors with other Tasmanian Guilds.
Five Tasmanian Guilds gather annually on the second Sunday in July at "Embroidfest". It is hosted in turn and gives all members the opportunity to meet, share embroidery knowledge and skills, exhibit recent works and enjoy a great day of mutual interest and friendship.
