The objects of the Association are:
a) to work for and advance the views, concerns and welfare of retired and partly retired people who are fully or partly self-funded retirees.
b) to seek and maintain for its members equivalent benefits, rebates and concessions to those granted to commonwealth age pensioners by all levels of Government, Government regulated agencies, health organisations, business and commerce.
c) to ensure recognition as a body speaking for retirees at local, state and federal government levels, and by the community at large and the media.
d) to foster membership of the Association throughout Australia.
e) to co-operate with other organisations with objectives consistent with those of the Association.
f) to seek a fair and just economic, taxation and social environment that recognises and compensates for the special problems of retirees.
g) to inform and educate its members on all matters pertaining to retirees.
h) to conduct research to further the objects of the Association.
The Mersey Branch
Our branch has about 280 members and is active in promoting the objects of the Association at local and wider levels. Meetings are held in a pleasant but business-like atmosphere, and guest speakers address the meetings on matters relevant to retirees. There are always interludes for social activities and conversation.
The branch contributes ideas and suggestions to be incorporated in formal submissions to governments in a range which includes taxation, superannuation, health, investment, aged care, and many other subjects.
Membership provides an opportunity to be part of this important lobbying process which has achieved substantial benefits for retirees.
