Environment / The Friends of the Lillico Penguins CARes Group


Our objective is to provide volunteers for the Parks and Wildlife Service at the Lillico Beach Conservation Area.

Volunteers watch and protect the area each night of the breeding season (3rd week of September - 1st week in May). A ranger from the Parks and Wildlife Service is in attendence from mid-December to mid-February.

Viewing Guidelines for Visitors:
* no flash cameras
* no white light torches
* only the volunteers have red-filtered torches
* white clothing to be covered
* visitors to be as quiet and still as possible
* stay on platform

Viewing Times:
The penguins come ashore each night a bit after dark (the time varies during the breeding season).
