Tasmanian HPV Enthusiast Club is a loose collection of people into the more unusual type of human powered vehicle, usually recumbent cycles. Members so far are concentrated in the South and the North West. Most home build to save the commercial purchase price (as it tends to be quite a bit more than "normal" bikes) and we'd be happy to help out others in this regard. For some reason Australians tend to prefer trikes to bikes and we are no exception. We also dabble in oddities like linear pedaling, power assist pedal powered boats and even human powered aircraft. Basically anything goes- well kind of !!! We are also attempting to interest Tasmanian schools in a recumbent trike race (and building program) similar to ones held in other states and would love to here from any one interested in this. The HPV club has an excellent web site full of interesting home made HPV's.
