The river banks have had protection with rock-rip-rap, groynes and riffles. The riparian zone has been fenced to exclude cattle and re-vegetated. The project started in 1991 and its current status is monitoring and maintenance. The Meander Landcare Group was the winner of inaugural River Care Award for Tasmania.
