The MAA has been in existence for the last 170 years with its main focus being the annual Campbell Town Show. The Show is the oldest continually running agricultural event in the Southern Hemisphere. The event is recognised Australia wide and is regarded as Tasmania’s premier sheep and wool exhibition. In this time State Governors, Federal Politicians and Leading Identities within the Wool Industry have opened the show. The Show has a strong agricultural focus and for the most of the last century it has centred on livestock. The area surrounding Campbell Town is regarded as some of the best fine wool country in the world and select members of the MAA have held the world record price for a bale of superfine wool. The sheep classes include superfine, fine, and strong Merino as well as Polwarth and Corriedales. There are also classes for prime lamb and British bred sheep. A large wool section usually includes over 200 entries and has attracted wide interest over the years. The Association and its district has had a proud and strong history and credits much of this to the voluntary help of it’s patrons. We look forward to many more successful years.
