Local History / Heritage Highway Museum & Visitor Information Cent

The Court house was built in 1905 and has been used as a court house from that time. Now the court house is used four times a year, with a magistrate coming from Launceston.
Over the years it has also been used as a Police Station, Library, Council Chambers and a Solicitors Office. It is now occupied by the Heritage Highway Museum and Visitors Information Centre .
No more information is known at this time, but research is currently on-going.
The museum contains local history of the Midlands area including -
A film projector built between 1930/1935. It was used by the Bye brothers who had a travelling picture show between 1934 and 1972, making it the longest picture show of its kind.
Keans Brewery brands, used in the local brewery between 1846 - 1855. Keans brewery was possibly built on the site of the original brewery built by James Hume in 1832. It is now used as Plumes Antiques.
Musical Instrument, band music, photos and uniforms from the Campbell Town Brass Band which started in 1844. Alic Lithgow was band master at one time and wrote the Invercargill March.
An Indenture for William Pears, Brickmaker to John Foster, Land Owner.
Wireless dated approximately 1924, designed and built by Igrame. England. Powered by 2v lead acid accumulator and dry HT battery 90 to 120v and also a bigs battery 3v - 45v IV.
