The Howden Foreshore Group, formed during the mid 1990's, was re-named Howden Landcare Group in 2000 to include a patch of bush set aside as public open space, and roadsides.
We meet to work each Tuesday morning, weather permitting, to remove blackberry and Spanish heath (our dominant invasive weeds), maintain pathways, and compile our herbarium. However, we are informal and often work on other days.
We believe it is important to protect local flora and fauna, and promote community awareness of how it is possible to nurture our Tasmanian native birds, animals, insects, frogs, and plants large and small. We enjoy not living in a standard suburb, and hope this privilege will be available to future generations.
