Arts & Leisure / Woodcraft Guild Tasmania Incorporated

The Guild is based in Hobart and has around 80 members with skill levels varying from amateurs to those who derive their total income from working with Tasmania's special timbers.

Guild activities include workshop sessions, site visits and excursions, member's show & tell, guest speakers and demonstrators and participation in fairs and exhibitions. The Guild has a library of woodworking books, magazines and videos, and a regular newsletter. We welcome the participation of members’ partners in our activities. There are a number of retired people amongst our membership, some of whom have worked with wood for all of their working lives and are keen to share their skills. We welcome new members, especially young men and women woodworkers into our ranks.

We have a special interest group working on the construction of a workbench. Another group are working on a wooden rocking horse.

In April 2007 we moved into our own home at Cosgrove High School in Glenorchy. Our members have equipped this facility with cupboards, benches, machinery, comprehensive dust extraction and an office. This workshop is available for use by all of our members. Assisting Cosgrove students in woodworking classes on a voluntary basis is part of our commitment, for this facility.

There is a MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM in the Downloadable Files section of this site.
