Maydena is the place for Adventure, bush walking or forest touring in 4WD's & Mountain bikes or even Railtrack riding. An adventure is waiting for everyone who wants to discover the Forest environs of Maydena, --"Where People and Nature Connect".

Railtrack Riders Pty Ltd
A Rail Track Rider is a four-wheeled, lightweight vehicle that is powered by pedals and only travels on railway tracks. There are different designs that range from two to four seats.
RTR is a new ground breaking idea for the Tasmanian Rail Network it is believed that development of RTR will be first for Australia
In other countries similar peddled powered track cycles have been a tried and proven form of tourism using a valuable resource like unused rail infrastructure.

RTR has researched and found countries like America, Canada, Sweden, Germany and many other sites in Europe currently provide the use of disused or partly used sections of railway in their countries for promoting and enhancing visitation by tourists to their respective regions.

The RTR concept aims to give patrons a unique tourism experience in Tasmania, providing an opportunity for adventure into an historic area of Tasmania and its forest industry heritage. The concept also encourages physical activity and active participation in exploring Maydena's landscape.

Patrons will hire a specially designed Railtrack Rider and travel on the rail line between Maydena and the site of the former station in the Florentine Valley, a 2.5 kilometre section of disused rail track. Timetabled tours of the RTR route will be facilitated by RTR staff.
The journey will take approximately one hour return. It is envisaged that patrons will be able to disembark from the RTR at the halfway point of the journey and enjoy refreshments at facilities to be located at the Florentine Station and take in historic displays and information on the regions forestry heritage.
