We have an 'open door' policy where parents and community members are welcomed into the school in the support of students' well-being and learning. Formal involvement of parents is also maintained through our very active Friends of Herdsmans Cove and School Council.
Our priorities centre on the development of high standards of literacy and numeracy outcomes and the use of information technology to enhance learning. We carry this out within a supportive school environment, focussing on both the rights and responsibilities of individuals for their actions.
Our literacy program has been recognised both within the state and through the National Literacy Week Awards as outstanding. We have developed a school wide, consistent literacy program based on both PASS and Spalding which operates daily during our literacy block 9-11. This is resulting in improved literacy outcomes for all students.
Information technology has been another priority this year with the development and continuing implementation of our IT plan, rapidly and successfully across the school. Students from our grade 5 class and their teacher recently flew to Sydney to receive the state primary sector award for the Australian School's Web Challenge competition. With the current IT roll-out funding from the Government, our school is currently undergoing network cabling ensuring greater and more flexible access to learning technologies for students and staff.
There is no better way to learn about our school than to share your time and talents with us, so please feel free to phone the school on (03) 6263 7843 or visit.
