How: Become a Volunteer - Talk to us how you can make a difference to OTHERS and YOURSELF
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you are bored or love helping people in your community, and have some time to spare, the Access Centre is waiting for YOU! We need people with or without computer skills (they don't need to be great, because we will provide training for you), who would like to help out other people who want to learn. If you think you would like to help, please phone us at the Centre, or call in and pick up a Volunteer Form. Interesting in become a Centre volunteer, no special computer knowledge necessary.
What can we offer you?
- Keep in touch with your family via email
- Learn new or update existing skills
- Acquire new skills in computing, interpersonal and customer relations
- Develop a resume
- meet new people in the local area
- Gain experience to improve job seeking opportunities
- Learn new technology while providing a valuable service to the community
- You can choose to undertake accredited training through TAFE in elearn or IT Certificate Level 2.
What do you have to do?
You could do one of the following depending on your skills:
- Supervise the Richmond Online Access Centre i.e Collect fees, bookings, answer the phone
- Help the public with simple questions they may have
- Assist patrons 1:1 with computer applications
- Join the management committee- We're looking for enthusiastic people who can attend monthly meetings and assist occasionaly with extra tasks such as fund raising and Grant writing.

Anke became Coordinator in May 2004 until November 2008. Anke has been an active member of the Richmond community for many years, and is a member of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade, where she is the fourth officer aswell as being in charge of training the junior division.

Pieter was the inaugural Vice Chairman and became Coordinator when the Centre opened in June 1999. In May 2004 Pieter resigned as Coordinator but has remained as a volunteer and member of the committee. Pieter is our technical expert.
